Steven C. Wolan, Mediator/Arbitrator
Steven C, Wolan is a Martindale-Hubbell AV Rated attorney. In his 35 years of legal experience, he has tried over 80 jury trials representing both Plaintiffs and Defendants in state and federal court. Has filed and argued appeals before state and federal appellate courts.
Steve has handled hundreds of mediations, arbitrations, ENEs and settlement conferences for his clients. He is a trained mediator and settlement commissioner for the Alameda and Contra Costa Superior Courts and the Bar Associating of San Francisco. He has served as Judge Pro Tempore in Alameda County and has acted as an arbitrator in attorney fee dispute cases for the Alameda County Bar Association. He completed 40 hours of mediation training with Steven Rosenberg as well as continuing legal education courses in mediation skills.
Mr. Wolan has been recognized for his mediation skills and has been retained repeatedly by the same lawyers to resolve their clients' disputes. He is well known for his even temperament, trial and subject matter knowledge, his sensitivity for the concerns of the parties in mediation and his sense of humor. He has said the only disputes he is unable to successfully resolve are with his wife.

Mr. Wolan has represented public entities, corporations and private clients in civil litigation and employment practice areas such as discrimination, sexual harassment, wage and hour, wrongful termination and all other employment cases. He is very experienced in civil rights, premises liability, toxic tort, professional negligence, personal injury, contract and real estate litigation.
Steve was a VISTA volunteer attorney in San Francisco. He worked as a senior trial attorney for the esteemed Alameda County Public Defenders office where he had a very successful trial and appellate record. He has received the respect of state and federal judges, County executives, and public officials.
He was recruited to Crosby Heafey, Roach and May where he was an associate in their labor and employment department and also handled business, tort and construction litigation. Steve has represented clients in professional malpractice, real estate, fraud, business, insurance defense, and personal injury litigation as well. He has represented employers in union elections, collective bargaining negotiations and NLRB actions including Unfair Labor Practice matters. He has advised and represented unions as well.
Mr. Wolan is admitted to practice by the State Bar of California, the United States Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit, and the U.S. District, Northern and Eastern Districts of California.
Outside of Patton Wolan Carlise LLP, Mr. Wolan is a member of the Earl Warren Inns of Court, The State Bar of California, Alameda County Bar Association, American Bar Association and PLUS. He serves his community in many ways including as a member of the Board of Directors of Aurora Theatre Company and Advisory Board for the Berkeley Repertory Theater. He is an avid bicyclist who has completed the AIDSRIDE, a skier, hiker and traveler.
